All the stars within a stellar cluster are born roughly at the same time.
Occasionally, there are a few stars which should have aged enough to become
Red Giants. These stars are typically bright and bluish in color and seem to have
been given new life on the Main Sequence. In fact, there are usually two stars
gravitationally swinging around each other in these systems. The Blue Straggler
has obtained lots of extra hydrogen by gravitationally pulling it away from its
companion star. The Blue Straggler shines happily, knowing that it has delayed
old age for just a little longer.
