In the first two volumes of The Pianist’s Guide to the Universe, we concentrated on describing the lives of stars and various objects in our local Solar System. In Volume 3 we explore the theme of darkness, ranging from familiar topics like nightfall, dark skies and eclipses to much more exotic concepts like frozen stars and the mysterious dark matter and dark energy that seem to shape the structure and future evolution of our Universe. As you will see, on some of the latter topics our understanding so far also remains in the dark! But remember that within all the darkness there are bright stars and galaxies showing us the way.
