Lady’s Slipper (poetry by poet, colleague and friend Carol Chitovas) was originally composed for my women’s choir She Sings! and renowned fiddler, singer and step-dancer, Kelli Trottier. I loved the Celtic flavour and the legendary feel of the poetry and couldn’t wait to set it for solo voice. I hope that the fiddle can still be heard in the piano accompaniment. Thanks to Clarisse Tonigussi for her suggestions regarding this setting for high voice.
