In some regions of interstellar clouds, like the Lagoon Nebula, there are dense pockets of gas and dust called star-forming regions. These regions can be thought of as stellar nurseries, where the environment is generally peaceful at first as clumps contract down to form baby stars. Then there is some “crying out” in the form of energetic radiation emissions when the lower-mass stars emerge from their dusty cocoons. In the end, though, the bigger star-babies disrupt the entire system by blowing out all of the gas and dust from the nursery.
