I think God sang when He had made

A bough of apple bloom,

And placed it close against the sky

To whiten in the gloom.

But, oh, when He had hung a star

Above a blue, blue hill,

I think God in His ecstasy

Was startled . . . and was still.

- Beatrice Redpath

A little song with a great big sentiment!

“The Star,” a part of Star Prayers for SSA and Piano, was a winner in the 2004 Ruth Watson Henderson Choral Composition Competition.

“Quiet” was the first song composed by Martha Hill Duncan for her daughter Claire and was the original inspiration for the entire Singing in the Northland collection.
