THE THEATER represents the outdoor theater in its natural and casual setting as it plays host to all kinds of music and audiences. The warm nostalgia and Hispanic flavour of my Texas heritage are embodied in this final piece of the set.

Performance Tips: The opening acrobatic part should really rocket to Middle C with the LH preparing ahead of time. The glissandos at m. 7 are simply decorative and don’t need to be “note perfect”, more of “show off quick wipe of the keys”. The octaves again harken back to the original row of the The Japanese Tea Garden. The easiest way to learn this section is to memorize the pattern in one hand, maybe even without 8ves at the beginning, add the 8ve and play right together, then separating them after you’re completely at ease with the memory and timely set up of the larger moves. Throughout this, it’s easier to find related intervalic patterns than to think key - for instance lots of 7ths, semitones and thirds. This one is easier than it looks.
